Flask in palantir ash glaze and trifoliate handle 4″
$45.00
I call them “masculine flasks”, but shape is a matter of interpretation. indeed, as usual, there are a good few examples of similar flasks from various places and times… but i find them tremendously entertaining to make
This flask stands about 4 inches tall, and is wearing a stunning palantir glaze. Enjoy the comfortable and convenient handle which features a moonstone pearl accent for your thumb to enjoy and a trifoliate pattern handle tail. A perfect little purse, bag, or overall pocket sized flask, plenty roomy, and liquid tight for your strong drink, medicinal brews, or potions… makes a perfect gift for an unsuspecting friend.
Each batch of flasks starts with me centering a large hump of clay on the wheel, and individually turning round bottomed bottle forms off the top, this process is called “turning off the hump”. After some time, and a little drying of the flasks i throw a hollow cylinder of clay called a “chuck” which holds the bottles upside down on the wheel where i trim them round with an iron hook. The round flask is transformed into an anatomical vessel by denting a cleft, and slightly flattening the form. As per usual, my ware is made with hand dug north carolina clay, hand made glazes, and is fired in a wood burning kiln </span;></span;></span;>
