Beer tankard with moonstone inlay pearls, granite ash glaze, 6″
$50.00
Here is a lovely, sturdy, and roomy beer mug which certainly has enough aesthetic interest set it apart. Perfect for renaissance festivals, larping events, reenactments, or just someone who finds themselves in need of a sturdy and interesting drinking vessel.
This piece is an example of what i call “pearlware”. Inspired by the beautiful little “pearls” on antique pots caused by the little stones in unwashed clay; i achieve these pearl patterns by individually inlaying many little chips of north carolina moonstone, which expand into glassy smooth bumps as they puff through the glaze during the firing. This piece uses pearls in combination with poked dots to achieve a very interesting semicircular pattern and an amazing texture.
All of my work is fired in my wood fueled kiln to over 2350f for a very sturdy and durable piece
